London: The Studio, Ltd, 1931. Extraordinary hardcover in slipcase with a striking design, and many colorful plates inside, some with a surprisingly modern feel. Chapters include ‘Art & the Page’, “Writing & Designing’, “Freedom in Monumental & Typographical Writing’, ‘Geometry’, ‘Calligraphy & Typography”, ‘The Lay-out of the Book’, ‘The Advent of Publicity’, ‘How to use the Art of the Past’, ‘Processes of Printing’, ‘The Influence of Modern Life on the Lay—out of To-Day’ and ‘The Function of Advertising Layout’. With text in French at back. The slipcase is present but with edgewear and some splitting along creases, with some loss. The book itself has a slightly dulled and dry spine, and light edgewear. A nice copy of a great rarity.
