1851 and the Crystal Palace
by Christopher Hobhouse (with introduction by Osbert Lancaster)
London: John Murray, 1950. "An account of the Great Exhibition and its contents; of Sir Joseph Paxton; and the erection, the subsequent history ad the destruction of his masterpiece..." A handsome book on a fascinating subject, well-illustrated throughout. Dust jacket has survived well, with some minor flaws (small areas of loss at extremities, some surface wear, and a slightly sunned spine). This is the revised edition published one year before the centennial of the palace.
